Killorglin rescue win from 2-0 down

-

DENNY PREMIER B

IN a cracking contest Killorglin came from 2-0 down to win the game in the second half.

Camp slotted two goals in the first half without reply but Killorglin came out in a different frame of mind in the second half and were taking the game to their opponents and only for some good goalkeeping by the Camp custodian they could have found the net on a couple of occasions.

They began their comeback in the 63rd minute with an excellently executed free kick by Paddy Collins. Now they were right back in the game and a couple minutes later they were awarded a penalty and Camp were down to 10 men. Sean Costello with his usual poise slotted the penalty away.

The home side made a couple of subs (Aiden O’Sullivan and Ryan Riordan) and kept the pressure on the away team. Even with 10 men Camp had their own chances but Killorglin clinched the game in the 75th minute when a great ball from Jason Browne found Brendan Breen in a great position and for the second game he claimed the winning goal.

This was a great come back by Killorglin who are adjusting to having only one senior team this year but showed great heart against a tough Camp outfit. AC Athletic got their season off to a great start with a good win over CSKA Tralee. Jason Diggins scored both goals for the winners. CASTLEISLAND took the three points in a good competitive game.

The star of the show for the home side was Jonathan Downey who scored a hat trick while Shane O’Loughlin scored the other goal for the winners. Scott O’Mahoney and Derek Breen scored for Mastergeeha.

DENNY DIVISION 1A

THE home side were much too strong for Asdee and won the game in a canter at the end. Michael O’Dowd (3), Enda Whelan, Damian Finn, Brandon Hoare and Stephen Speirs scored for the West Kerry side.

DENNY DIVISION 1B

A BIT of a surprise here with Classic FC winning the game comfortably at the end. Tommy Sheridan, Timmy Lynch and Ryan Carroll scored for the winners. THIS was an action packed game which was on tender hooks right up to the final whistle but it was Strand Road who ended with their noses in front in a seven-goal thriller. Michael Wren 2, Richie Hurley and Anthony O Connor scored for Strand Road while Gary Sugrue (2), and Paudie Bailey scored for Windmill United. AC Athletic looked dead and buried when they trailed 2-0 after 25 minutes but they staged a remarkable recovery and a hat trick by lethal striker John Mike Dooley gave the Causeway side the three league points.

DENNY DIVISION 2

CS Abbeydorney won this game with plenty to sprare with their goals coming from Stevie O’Sullivan (4), Colm McCarthy (2) and Tommy Hayes. A HUGE surprise here with Castlemaine defeating title contenders Abhainn Li. A single goal was good enough to take the points and it was scored by Wayne Coffey making it 2 wins on the trot fo rthe Mid Kerry side. IT is nice to see Clanmaurice back in the KDL again and they were in terrific form in this game winning easily against new kids on the block CSCB. Their goals came from Cathal Kearney (2), Jonathan Quilter, Stephen Murphy and Padraig O’Carroll. Gene Murphy scored for CSCB. IN a game in which three red cards were produced Ballybunion extended their unbeaten run to four games and are perched at the top of the table after a good win over Mitchels Avenue B at Sandhill Road. John Langham (2), Daniel Walsh and Jamie Culloty scored for the seasiders.
