Brewing up a storm for Kerry Hospice
OVER 90 homes, workplaces, clubs, pubs and hotels in Tralee alone opened their doors to a legion of Kerry Hospice supporters on Thursday morning, all out to help raise funds through the special coffee mornings organised at the locations.
And they fairly brewed up a storm for a vital charity organisation that has played such an important role at the darkest hour in the lives of so many families.
Kerry Hospice Chairman Ted Moynihan said the Foundation was delighted with the response to the countywide coffee-morning appeal “The level of support we get is fantastic and this year was no exception,” Ted told The Kerryman. “The turnout was phenomenal and we’re expecting the coffee morning numbers to be up on last year.” It’s one of the most important fundraisers in the year for the Hospice, and last year raised in excess of €43,000 for their services. It’s funding that comes as manna from heaven at a time when the Hospice is constructing its new 15-bed, in-patient of Kerry General Hospital.
“We are delighted with the progress of the new in-patient unit that is being built at the moment. The roof is on it so it’s amazing to see it coming so far after so many years working towards it,” Ted added.
The purpose-built centre is set to revolutionise the already brilliant quality of care available through the Hospice and University Hospital Kerry.
All who sipped a cuppa on Thursdsay were thanked for their help. “Thanks to everyone who came along to the hundreds of venues in Kerry.”
