Just one hospice coffee morning left in 2016

FOR people who missed this year’s Hospice Coffee Morning, there is one last chance to attend and contribute on this Friday, September 23rd. Eileen O’Shea, in Dromroe, Currow will hold an event in her own house from 10am to 5pm.

“This is Eileen’s first outing and we hope that she will have a very successful day,” said local fundraising branch chairman, Jack Shanahan.

“The annual Hospice Coffee Morning, as usual, turned into a full day. We had three outlets running at full tilt in the town,” said Mr Shanahan.

“The Bank of Ireland has been one of the unsung, fundraising heroes in recent years. Under the able stewardship of Rosemary Pender, the bank customers and staff have consistently raised large contributions towards Kerry Hospice Foundation.

“In Haven Pharmacy, Noreen Cremins has been a stalwart, serving coffee, cookies and cakes to all that cross her path.

“In Tomo Burke’s old premises, we had a great team effort. It is, of course, not all hard work.

One of the great benefits of these coffee days is the banter and good company that makes it all the more worthwhile.

“Building work on the new inpatient unit is still ploughing ahead. Finishing touches are being put on the roof and we are on target for an early new year opening. Every cent that is raised in the coffee morning will go towards the Kerry Hospice Foundation, which is fully funding this new unit.

“With a cost of almost €6m, as well as an annual commitment of €400,000 towards running costs, the hospice has considerable need for funds. Thanks to all who have, and continue, to support this cause through both volunteerism and donations. It is much appreciated,” Mr Shanahan concluded.
