Cycle the two lakes for Killorglin college

-

THE shortest distance between two lakes is a straight line, unless of course it happens to be Killorglin Community College’s fundraising cycle, in which case it’s worth taking the scenic route. This year’s ‘ Two Lakes’ cycle takes place on Saturday, March 11 at 9.30am and the college is expecting another great day’s peddling – whether you’re a pro, a novice, a granny or a toddler.

The 60km and 40km routes take in the scenic Caragh Lake, passing through Blackstones Bridge, Lough Acoose, and then on to Glencuttane or Beaufort before arriving back at the college for refreshments.

The 12km route is perfect for younger members of the family which heads towards Glounaguillagh National School before turning back via Groyne Cross and Ardmoniel.

“This is a great family fun day out while also taking in some of our finest scenery. The exercise is just a pleasant bonus. We had great support last year and are expecting large numbers again this year,” said Deputy Principal Donal O’Reilly.

The college plans to further invest in its hi-tech ICT infrastructure to ensure that they remain the pioneers of ICT in education. This costs money, however, as it’s not included in the annual department of education budget and so the Parents’ Council have again rallied the troops to put on another fantastic cycle event.

“We are very grateful to Killorglin Cycling Club and all of our sponsors who once again have given us unconditional support in all areas,” Donal added.

“We will have an expert on hand on the day to offer advice to anyone who would like to use this cycle as the start of their ROK training programme.”
