Milltown / Castlemain­e secure Mid Kerry Under 21 final berth

MILLTOWN/CASTLEMAIN­E produced a solid second half display in Cromane on Saturday to qualify for a Mid Kerry Under-21 Championsh­ip final encounter with Beaufort. THE going was heavy underfoot which meant that free-flowing football was hard to come by but both sides did their best.

The visitors were stronger in most positions with midfielder David Roche, Gavin Horan (when moved to midfield), and full-forward Pádraig O’Brien standing out. Ten minutes in to this half the hosts led by 1-01 to 0-01 - the goal coming from wing-forward Adrian O’Connor. Soon after the stronger Milltown/Castlemain­e side took over with Roche, Horan, and O’Brien dominating. And O’Brien goal after 25 minutes had them ahead by four going in at the break

The second half was owned by Milltown/Castlemain­e as the amalgamati­on challenge faded with the homeside only managing to put three points on the board. Visitors rattled the home sides net with a further two goals and added five points to their tally one of talking points was the superb Ciaran Griffin goal as his team were victorious.

The understren­gth amalgamati­on side competed well for 40 minutes with Brendan Foley showing great leadership at centre-back.

Two games fell foul to the weather however Laune Rangers defeated Cromane 1-14 to 2-10. MID Kerry Finals were held last Fri night the following go through to the Kerry South Semi Finals in the Racecourse Killarney on Sunday March 12. Good luck to all.
