IN LIFE, there are many things we look at and many things we fail to look at.

How we hold grudges against ourselves and others is one of those things we seldom take time to sincerely see. We often perceive the grudges we hold as part of our current fixed reality even though it would be more accurate to see them as limitations and blocks that are preventing us from enjoying life and moving forward.

As we start spring, this is a great time to spring clean your mind and make space for new thoughts and ideas freeing yourself from grudges, anger, shame and guilt or any limiting beliefs about yourself, others and life in general.

It is always good to look into your mind to see what you are holding and how what you are holding is affecting your life. There are so many examples of how grudges we hold do not serve us or the people we are holding things against. Anything that takes away your peace of mind ultimately is a form of self-punishment and self-violation

On a recent trip to India, I reflected on my own inner world. I realised how much of my life I spent seeing things as I wanted them to be or as I feared them to be or in other words as I didn’t want them to be. Wishful thinking, harbouring and internal limiting beliefs prevented me from seeing things as they really are.

I realised how much of people and life I missed and failed to enjoy due to my fear and my holding of thoughts and opinions about situations and people that prevented me from truly seeing the reality of things and making the best of what was in front of me.

My meditation journey has really helped me see things simply as they are.

My sense of place has become more clear and decisive. The liberation of not harbouring gives the freedom to start every day as a new day with a clearer sense of possibility and excitement for life.

Sometimes thoughts that bring back old fears show up and now I have more space to deal with those fears and am quicker to address them. It is a great feeling to be in the moment and enjoy a connection to myself and those around me without the weight of baggage and being blinded by old perceptions.

Wellbeing and a sense of wellbeing emanates from within. Freedom from harbouring negative thoughts and feelings towards situations, myself and others which have taken up so much my time in the past is liberating.

Every aspect of my life has improved and I hope to build on this going forward

As you read this article why not write a list of any issues that you are harbouring or are bothering you and make a plan to let go of them, freeing you from the prison of your mind

The first step towards clearing your harbour – and freeing your mind is to check your attitude every morning to see if there are old sunken thoughts or feelings under the surface that may prevent you from having a great day.

If there are perceptions holding you back, have a look at them. Meditation is a great way of helping you to first of all see what is holding you back and then of changing your mind about things as the practice makes you first of all aware and ultimately makes your mind, strong, balanced and flexible. It is a great workout for the mind.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead free of harbouring and limiting thoughts that are preventing you from making the most of the now.
