Glór na nGael will help raise profile of Irish
OVER 40 adults attended the RingLyne, Chapletown for a presentation given by a Glór na nGael Development Officer Dara Ó Baoill and by Kerry County Council Gaeilge Officer Roibeard Ó hEartáin.
Glór na nGael, founded in 1961, is one of the lead organisations funded by Foras na Gaeilge that helps promote the use of the Irish language by working with community groups, families and businesses.
A Glór na nGael committee, as part of a larger group such as the local GAA, can access funding via the ‘Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha’, allowing it to take steps to promote the language. A wider Glór na nGael committee with representation from the various active groups within a community can access greater funding via ‘Comórtas Glór na nGael.’
This seminal meeting of the islanders, with representatives from two organisations that help promote the Irish language, will serve as a springboard for further initiatives on the Island that scaffold, strengthen and raise the profile of our Irish language.
Thanks to all who attended the meeting from Valentia, Paddy and Fiona Bush of ‘Eigse na Brídeoige,’ Principal of Coláiste na Sceilge John O’Connor and Noreen O Neill.
Táimid ana-bhuíoch dos na cainteoírí Dara Ó Baoill agus Roibeard Ó hEartáin agus as tacaíocht ó Ghlór na nGael agus ó Chomhairle Contae Chiarraí
