Hoop bliss at CBS basketball blitz in John Mitchels
BRILLIANT basketballing action was the order of the day at the John Mitchel’s new complex in Skehanagh, Tralee - the venue for Tralee CBS Primary’s 2017 Hoops Tournament.
And what a day of high-octane on-court action they had in the third-year of the hugely-popular blitz, as 12 teams from primary schools across North Kerry came together to battle it out.
They all played out of their skin and had a ball of fun in the process - exactly why the competition was set up day one. Host school CBS, O’Brennan NS, Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, Dromclough NS, Holy Family NS, Balloonagh Scoil Eoin and Blennerville NS all fielded teams of highly-talented players to make the 2017 tournament another huge winner.
“The aim of the tournament is, above all else, that every child will get to take part and have fun in the process,” CBS primary teacher and event organiser Maria O’Regan said.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for schools to come together, learn from each other and demonstrate skills and talents at the same time.
“We were delighted to host the event for the third year, and it is important for the children who play basketball with our school to have something to aim for when training,” Ms O’Regan added.
The final came as a carbon repeat of last year meanwhile, with the Gaelscoil victorious against Holy Family in a display that resulted in the Gaelscoil’s Eddie Sheehy and Holy Family’s Darragh O’Connell being named MVPs.
