Come out and help the campaign to keep roads free of litter

- MÍCHEÁL Ó COILEÁIN

THE time of the year is here again and the sixth annual County Clean-up, which is facilitated by KWD Recycling, is nearly upon us. Volunteers are being called upon again to come out in force on Saturday April 8th to get involved in what has proven in the past to be a great community day out, bringing neighbours and friends together working towards the same goal of keeping our roads clean, while also highlighting the issue of littering.

Colm Cooper has again generously taken time out of his busy schedule to come on board to promote this worthwhile event and help get the message across to everyone to get involved and keep our roads “litter free and pristine”, so that visiting tourists and locals alike can see the true beauty of our countryside without unsightly litter strewn on the sides of the roads.

This year it is also being extended, and adapted by our neighbours in West Cork where KWD Recycling will also facilitate the Clean Up. This is great news and it will allow everyone visiting or living along this side of the country to enjoy our unspoiled beauty.

We are hoping to have as many groups/ communities/individuals as possible out on the day to help create awareness and in turn help prevent people littering going forward.

Posters will be placed in local shops in the coming days encouraging people to sign up on the day, and correspondence is being sent out to all the voluntary groups and tidy town committees who have been involved over the last six years.

If you would like to get involved please register by logging onto www. countycleanup.com, it does not matter if it’s one person or a group of people, if it’s for an hour or more, every piece of litter picked makes a difference.

Show pride and keep our county roads litter free.
