Tidy Towns get new van courtesy of Randles and Garvey’s Supervalu

-

TRALEE will be looking its absolute best this year thanks to a new set of wheels to get all hands, tools, flowers and whatever else is needed to wherever it is needed, in short order.

Tralee Tidy Towns say the group is ‘over the moon’ with the generous donation of a van this week, jointly sponsored by Garvey’s Supervalu and Randles Bros.

It couldn’t have come at a better time, just months after the group’s old van gave up the ghost. As a result of the donation there’s even greater resolve among members when it comes to planning for a colourful year ahead in the campaign to secure a sixth gold medal for the county capital.

“Our old van pretty much collapsed just before Christmas so this donation couldn’t be coming at a better time,” Tralee Tidy Towns chairperson and Councillor Sam Locke told The Kerryman.

“We are simply over the moon to receive it and cannot thank sponsors Garvey’s Supervalu and Randles Bros enough for their generosity.”

Kerry County Council will meanwhile maintain and insure the van in another hugely welcome gesture by all in the group.

The 2012 vehicle is arriving on Wednesday of this week with the Tidy Towns to provide for its use by Tralee Tidy Together and the Community Employment workers responsible for doing such great work across town every year. We’re also now calling for volunteers are we look to do our very best in the national competition,” Cllr Locke said.
