White Button Sewing Service recently launched
IF YOU’RE the kind of person who believes in the adages associated with the noble and ancient craft of sewing, then, here’s a bit of good news for you.
A Stitch in Time Saves Nine or Cutting Your Cloth According to Your Measure all come from the same yarn.
The White Button – a new sewing service has just opened up at Lower Main Street.
It is housed in the historic Kingdom House complex which now contains a thriving public house and an equally thriving phone shop.
The new service has been opened by Agata and Peter Michno. Agata graduated from a six-year college course and worked with a fashion manufacturer for another five years in her native Poland. Peter will look after the reception of garments, dealing with the public and detailing instructions unique to each job – and the general business side of the venture.
“We have been thinking about starting for a long time and we hoped to get a place like this to get the business going,” said Peter. “We thought about the risks in starting up and Agata left her job to do this. I will look after all the administration as it is better for Agata to be allowed get on with the work.
“Of course she will be here if anybody wants to talk or consult with her about a design or plan they might have in mind.
“We are aiming to provide a fast and efficient service at a reasonable price and we hope to include an alteration service to the fashion shops in Castleisland,” said Peter.
Agata was very busy doing alterations at home for friends and for people to whom her work was recommended. Curtains, cushions, hems, sleeves, legs, elbow and shoulder patches and zips are all a welcome inclusion at The White Button and they also offer clothes ironing service there.
Agata and Peter are happily living in Castleisland now and have recently bought a house in Cahereen Heights. They have two sons, David (15) and Patryk (10) and they made good neighbours and many friends in the community they have been part of since moving here 13 years ago. We wish them well in their venture: Powodzenia / Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh / Good Luck.
