Shine delight as ladies deliver

-

GRAHAM Shine Kerry manager Graham Shine was understandably delighted with his side’s victory.

“It was a massive win, a real hard fought battle, we really needed the win to bring us up to nine points and some way comfortable in the table and thankfully we came through in the end against what was a very strong and well organised Armagh team.”

Shine was delighted that Kerry hadn’t conceded any goals given that it had been a major problem throughout the league campaign. “It was a big thing for Kerry not to concede any goals. We set up with that in mind and thankfully it worked, to be honest they really didn’t have a goal chance and we are delighted with that. “We had to be cautious with Aimee Mackin, she’s an immense talent, we studied the way she plays and we set up to negate her influence. Hopefully we are now safe in Division 1 now [Kerry have nine points with an away game against Mayo to come], but you just don’t know in this league as it’s so tight and teams that you expect to win are losing but the ball is in our hands now so hopefully we can come away from Mayo with another win.” Shine admitted that it is very important that his team stays in Division 1. “Of course it’s very important for the Kerry ladies to stay in the top division, it’s our first year involved as well so hopefully we will be good enough against Mayo and we will have to see what happens after that. “Cora Staunton will take some watching of course, but I have full confidence in this bunch of girls that they will get the job done once again next Sunday.”
