CAPTURING some of the country’s most beautiful scenery and rugged landscapes, Donnacha Clifford and David Elton have a right to be proud of their new book ‘Cycling Kerry - Great Road Routes.’

The Tralee-based cycling enthusiasts and members of Chain Gang Cycling Club are co-owners of KerryCycling.com, and on Friday last (April 7) they launched their newest project at O’Mahony’s Bookshop in Tralee, with a little help from cyclist and ‘ The Rás’ author Tom Daly, the guest speaker on the evening.

The Collins Press guide showcases 2,500 kilometres worth of enticingly peaceful roads and dramatic scenery from around the county using terrific photography throughout.

Donnacha explained that he and David wanted to showcase some of Kerry’s lesser known gems, and not just the county’s more famous vistas.

“There are some spectacular cycling routes in Kerry and we wanted to give a really broad range that will appeal to everyone,” he said.

“We also chose a range of routes that we think will suit cyclists of all abilities.

“It was great to have someone like Tom, a keen cyclist and excellent author, there on the night, and the feedback we’re getting is very positive indeed.”

Each route description is illustrated with colour maps, photos, a gradient graph and key facts and statistics, while the book also provides information on natural landmarks and historical sites.

Cycling Kerry is available for €14.99 from all good bookshops.
