KILLARNEY Legion hold the advantage after the opening three rounds with their unbeaten start after they overcame a tough challenge from fellow East Kerry side Kilcummin on Saturday by 0-15 to 1-10. The visitors had hit the post and missed a penalty while Legion drew a fine save out of Kieran Fleming at the other end, but a strong finish to the final 10 minutes of the first period gave Legion a lead of 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time. Noel Duggan’s goal put Kilcummin right back in contention but Legion held ShaunfiS firm in securingKe­ane clearingth­eir twoa dangerousp­oint win with late frfree to ensure their win and a clear two ppoint lead at the top of the table.

Five sides are below them on four ppoints, Spa, Kenmare Shamrocks and Beaufort all registerin­g high scoring tototals in being amongst that pack.

Spa scored three second half goals to record a 13-point win away to Listowel eListowel Emmets after Craig Hickey’s first-half goal had given them an interval lead of 1-7 to 0-7. Conor Cox had scored six of the hosts’ first half total and Sam Tarrant did score the first goal of the second period. However Listowel simply had no response for a period of 3-5 without reply for the visitors. Liam Kearney, Andrew Garnett and the impressive Evan Cronin were the scorers of the three goals as the final score was 4-18 to 2-11 in the East Kerry side’s favour, Tarrant getting his second green flag in consolatio­n.

Kenmare Shamrocks had 17 points to spare over Listry meanwhile as goals from Dean Cassidy, Brian O’Sullivan and Kevin Price gave them a 3-15 to 0-7 thumping of the home side.

Beaufort and Glenflesk played out the highest scoring and arguably the most entertaini­ng affair in the Division as despite conceded 2-1 from the off, the Mid Kerry side recovered on home turf to record a 5-15 to 4-13 victory. A Darragh Roche penalty and a Gavin Kelly goal were the opening goals for the visitors but Beaufort scored their two goals by the same means, a pen and from open play by Liam Carey both occasions to bring the game b in their favour and give them a two p lead. Glenflesk were awarded ano penalty which Roche converted following Jeff O’Donoghue and K O’Callaghan points they had a 32-9 lead at the end of a riveting first

A scrambled third goal from che appeared to increase Glenfle dominance but the fourth penalt the match yielded a hat-trick of own for Carey with Padraig Do scoring the hosts fourth goal to b an incredible encounter back into melting pot. Carey finished the ga with 4-2 but incredibly he was not game’s top scorer as Roche finis with no less than 3-10 for Glenfles a five-point defeat!
