This year, Kerry County Council, in associatio­n with Kerry Libraries and co-funded by the Arts Council, is bringing workshops in creative writing, painting, drawing and feltwork to libraries around Kerry.

“These workshops are run by highly skilled, profession­al artists and will provide great learning opportunit­ies to people over 55 interested in expressing themselves creatively,” said Kerry County Council Arts Officer, Kate Kennelly.

Bríd Ní Mhóráin will give poetry writing workshops in Dingle Library and can accommodat­e both Irish and English language poetry May 19th and 26th. Tel: 066 91 51499

Barbara Lovric will give creative writing workshops in Killorglin Library on May 19th and 26th. Tel: 066 97 61272.

Tina Reed will give workshops in oil painting using the palette knife at Killarney Library on May 11th and 18th. Tel: 064 66 32655

Roisin McGuigan will give workshops in watercolou­rs at Listowel Library on May 12th and 19th Tel: 068 23044 and also at Tralee Library on May 6th and 13th Tel: 066 71 21200

Jeanette Cullen will give painting workshops in Cahercivee­n Library on May 11th and 18th. Tel: 066 94 72287

Places in these classes are free but limited and you’re advised to contact the libraries for further details.

Access Cinema will also screen the classic film, 12 Angry Men at Killarney Library on May 16th at 6.30pm. Tel: 064 66 32655 - and at Cahercivee­n Library on May 25 at 6pm. Tel: 066 94 72287.
