A CRACKING, exciting match with skill and enthusiasm from both sides came down to a single score in the end as Listry just squeezed past Tarbert on home turf last Sunday.

Listry got off to a good start with Derry Ahern scoring the first point after two minutes. However, Tarbert’s Gerald O’Sullivan, who impressed during the contest, narrowly missed a goal when the ball hit off the cross bar in the first-half.

He would go on to score four points in the course of the game. Kevin Courtney, Ronan Buckley, Anthony Kennedy and Aaron McCarthy all raised white flags in the first-half for the East Kerry side while Andrew Doherty, Gerald O’Sullivan (2) and Cillian Langan all scored lovely points for their North Kerry counterparts.

Listry were leading into the second half by one point (0-5 to 0-4), but that didn’t stop Tarbert’s ambition after Gerald O’Sullivan and Danny Wrenn both scored consecutive points to put them ahead for the first time in proceedings.

Aaron McCarthy would have Listry level on the three-quarter mark however with Ronan Buckley putting them back in front as it was still all to play for. Buckley finished with five points in total and scored the winning point from a free after Derry Ahern scored a second point for the victors.

Despite a brace from Kevin Enright and Mark Buckley also getting a score for the visitors, Tarbert just came up short in the end. Listry now go into the semi-finals in this grade for the second consecutive year.
