All welcome to college’s 30th anniversary celebrations

-

CASTLEISLAND Community College will put the final touch to its 30th anniversary 1987 – 2017 celebrations on Friday evening May 19th.

It was decided earlier this year to mark the occasion of the establishment of the college in its present location in 1987 by holding three events to celebrate the three decades at Tonbwee.

A huge Tractor Run was organised for Sunday, March 5. And the Breaking a World Record Sports Quiz was held at the local community centre on Wednesday, April 5th.

Last but by no means least comes the Celebration Evening on Friday, May 19.

Principal Carmel Kelly is anxious to point that all past teachers, staff, parents and pupils and interested members of the public are being invited to attend on the night.

“We propose to host past teachers and students on the night. We also intend on having video links of past students from around the globe to help us celebrate,” said Ms. Kelly.

“There will be a Wall of Remembrance full of photographs over the last 30 years. We also propose to exhibit old school roll books on the night.

“We will celebrate the achievements in the school in Academia, Sport, Music, Entrepreneurship and Extra- Curricular success.

“Storytelling from students and teachers past and present will also be centre stage on the evening.

“We hope to have a collection of photographs in booklet form, as a souvenir of the Celebration Evening,” said Ms. Kelly.
