It’s time for the Kindom County Fair

PRING has well and truly sprung when means it’s time for the Kingdom County Fair at Ballybeggan Racecourse on Sunday, May 7. The launch took place at The Grand Hotel last Monday evening when the committee announced details of what promises to be another exciting family day out. The fair is also a great way of bringing people together from town and country to celebrate everything that’s special about rural life.

Among this year’s standout events are Declan Nerney and his band, a demo from chainsaw sculptor, Will Fogerty (three of his pieces will be up for raffle on the day), vintage farm machinery, Dog Show, Bony Baby Show, demonstrations from Kerry Fire Service and Civil Defence, a mobile farm, and Harford Copeland’s amazing ‘Vortex Tunnel’. The day is traditionally a huge family occasion and The Kingdom Party Pals will have everything covered from disco to face painting and bouncy castles.

Arts, trade, crafts and industrial stalls will also show their wares; cooking enthusiasts will be treated to a demo by Chef, Mark Doe, while the backdrop to the entertainment is the hugely popular agricultural shows that feature numerous classes of cattle and sheep. The show jumping is also a perennial crowd favourite, while the Garda Mounted Unit will also be roaming the grounds.

Donna Monson is Secretary of Kingdom County Fair and the final stages are nearing completion for what promises to be an enjoyable day.

“It’s a great community event and we would like to stress how it’s also a huge family day with lots to entertain adults and children. The longterm weather forecast looks set to be nice and we would urge people to come along on May 7 and experience some top class events,” said Donna.
