SATURDAY’S Donegal Forestry Rally will mark the end of a very busy period for co-driver Damien Fleming. The Kilcummin man is due to contest the Donegal townbased rally along aside David McCrossan in a Ford Escort Mk2.

It will be his fourth event in less than two weeks. Fleming’s rush of events stared on the Cartell. ie Rally of the Lakes at the end of last month where he guided Conor Murphy to fifth place in the Junior category in a Honda Civic.

With the Junior section of the Rally of the Lakes taking place on Saturday only, Fleming was able to make his way to Fermanagh in time for the bank holiday Monday May Day Rally at St Angelo.

On this occasion he paired up with his regular driver Stephen McCann to finish second in a Ford Fiesta S2000.

On Sunday last he was partnered Meath driver John Hendy on the Carlow Stages but were forced to finish the rally under Super Rally rules due to overheating brakes.

Fleming won’t be the only Kerry competitor in Donegal on Saturday. He will be joined by fellow local co-driver Noel O’Sullivan Jr who will be navigating for Jon Armstrong in a Mitsubishi Lancer E9 on the event.

Meanwhile, Diarmid Falvey made the long trip north east to tackle the Glens of Antrim Rally on Saturday with Derek McGarrity in a Fiesat r5. The pair won the Circuit of Kerry last month but were unable to repeat the performance on McGarrity’s home patch and had to settle for second behind Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick in a Citroen DS3 RF.
