FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

On Saturday next, May 13, young boys and girls from second class in the local Scoil Náisiúnta will receive their First Holy Communion. The mass and ceremony will commence at 11 a.m. It is an important occasion in the community as family, relatives and friends of the young girls and boys assemble in the parish church. Guímid rath Dé orthu uilig.

TIDY TOWNS

With the arrival of summer we see the last of the daffodils. We enjoyed the display from mid-January to the first week of May.’ The last daffs standing’ can be seen at the ‘Fáilte ‘sign at the west end and also mid-way through the village. Last Saturday, the dynamic duo who spread the wood chips under the beech hedging along by the school wall did a fantastic job. The bark was saved from the trees that were mulched when removed from the water treatment plant area – an exercise that was a good example in recycling. Well done also to our litter warden who does a solo run almost every day and keeps the place looking so well. The midweek action hour resumes on Wednesday evenings. Volunteers will meet at the hall at 7.30 p.m. If you can spare even 15 minutes, please come along and give a helping hand. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
