Snap happy students encouraged to capture a day in the life of Kerry
STUDENTS who feel they have what it takes to capture a day in the life of Kerry from behind the lens can now put their skills to the test as part of GoKerry’s photo competition in association with The Kerryman, Kerry County Council and Dominic Walsh Photography.
The competition is open to 5th year and transition year students who can submit a catchy photograph taken in Kerry - but remember the key competition theme is: ‘A Day in the Life of…’
The competition is a great opportunity for aspiring photographers to capture a unique aspect of everyday life in the Kingdom and all photos will be printed in a special supplement in The Kerryman and will be exhibited at different venues around the county.
The photographer will retain the copyright to their image and the photographs will be used by GoKerry on social media platforms and their website. GoKerry will have unlimited use of photographs entered.
Each entry receives a Mayoral acknowledgement and the winning entry gets a Mayoral Civic Award, plus prizes. There will be a public vote through social media, as well as a judge’s selection. Only one entry per student is allowed and the judge’s decision is final. Photographs will be exhibited as part of Feile na mBláth Festival and the Mayor of Kerry will be on hand to present prizes.
Students using mobile phones to take photographs are asked to set the phone to maximum picture quality and photographs should be natural and without enhancement. Closing date for submissions is Friday, May 26.
Entries can be submitted by email to info@gokerrry.ie or by post to Go Kerry, Library Place, Killorglin. Happy snapping!
