DEATHS

The death has occurred of Bridie (Ciss) Cox (née Flavin) Chapel Street, Castletown­roche, she was born in Knockanure 99 years ago. Ciss died on May 5, at her home. Wife of the late William and mother of Anne, Mary (Lagatu), Eileen (Joyce), Majella and the late Bernadette. Missed by her daughters, sister Nell and brother Tom in Knockanure, granddaugh­ter Frances, sons-in-law Vincent and Yann, brother-in-law Terence, nephews, nieces, grandnephe­ws and grandniece­s. Requiem Mass on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Castletown­roche. Funeral afterwards to Ballyhooly Cemetery.

DEATH has taken place of Rev. Fr Pat Moore, Littor Road, Asdee. Former parish priest of Duagh and many other parishes. Died on May 1, son of the late Mick and Peg. Survived by his brothers Diarmuid and Michael, sisters in law Jacintha and Geraldine, nephews Shane, Michael, Gearoid and Conor, niece Cliona, relatives, neighbours and many friends including Bishop Ray Browne, fellow priests and many parishione­rs of his former diocese. Born in 1957, ordained in 1982,1987 was director Primary religious Education, was appointed parish priest Duagh in 2004. His father was a native of Moyvane. The Choir Gallery in Asdee was full for his requiem Mass which was attended by about 60 priests and several bishops and a huge congregati­on, who were, both inside and outside the church. Requiem Mass was on Thursday, May 4, at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Aghavallen Cemetery, Ballylongf­ord. Bishop Ray said the prayers at the graveside and sang the Salve Regina with his fellow priests.

DEATH has taken place of Mickey Walsh, The Hell Road, Derry, Listowel, and late of Tullamore, Listowel on April 28. Husband of the late Breda, son of the late Eamon and Noreen and brother of the late Kieran. Survived by his sisters Rita and Anne, brother Joe, nieces Fiona and Yvonne, nephews Kevin and Eamon, brothers in law and sister in law. Requiem Mass for Mickey Walsh was celebrated at St Teresa’s Church, Ballydonog­hue, burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

DEATH of Jack Walsh aged 103, late of Halfway Bar Glenoe and Greenville, died in Chicago. Interment in Chicago.

DEATH of Pádraig (Paud) Culhane was born in Leitrim Middle, Moyvane in 1929. Son of John and Margaret. Went to Birmingham in the post war years and was a Bus Driver. He married Kathleen Carroll from Kiltimagh Mayo. They went on to have four children; Mary, Margaret, John and Eugene. Throughout his life Paud was a regular visitor to Moyvane visiting his family and his old friends and neighbours. His last visit home was in July 2016. Paud enjoyed A life blessed by family including 11 grandchild­ren and many good friends. He died in hospital in Birmingham. He will be received into St Dunstan’s Church Kings Heath Birmingham on Thursday, May 11, at 6 p.m. Requiem Mass to be held on Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Brandwood End cemetery.
