Of the outstandin­g achievemen­t of the hurlers of Causeway Comprehens­ive School in the Munster and allIreland ‘B’ Colleges Hurling Championsh­ips in 1977 – The Players involved were: Tom O’Sullivan, Anthony O’Carroll, Mike Hussey, John Hennessy, John White, Gerdie O’Connell and Daniel O’Connor Ballyduff Tommy O’Mahony, John Lucid, Mike Dineen, Micheál Reidy and Gerard Lowe Ballyheigu­e Willie Barrett, Mick Burke, Johnny O’Carroll, Gerard Diggins, Francis Dineen, Martin Young and Tom Kearney Causeway.

Patrick Harrington, Maurice Walsh and Christy Walsh Kilmoyley Seán Flaherty (Capt.), Frank Bowler, Tim Ryan and Moss Allen Lixnaw the team mentors were Gerald Whyte (Trainer), John Leahy (Selector), John Michael Brick (Selector). John O’Regan was the school principal.

GLENDAHALA­N MASS

The annual Mass at Tobar na Súl, Glendahala­n takes place on Wednsday June 7 at 7.30 p.m.

WETHERS WELL, TUBRID

Mass will take place in honour of St Brendan, Ardfert on Tuesday, May 16, at 7.30 p.m. Young people from the parish will be involved. Please note Mass will be held in Ardfert church if the weather is bad.

FIRST COMMUNION

Next Saturday at 11 a.m. Mass our children will receive their First Holy Communion. Thanks to their teachers Mrs Susan Crean and Mr Terence Dineen and to their parents towards making this a great spiritual occasion and a day to remember.

ALL IRELAND WINNERS

Ballyheigu­e under-14 Draughts Team – The boys sailed through the semi-finals and met with strong opposition from Carlow in the final. When the boys emerged victorious from the enclosed room, much to the delight of everyone present, there were lots of Cheers and Tears. It’s been an emotional rollercoas­ter for these boys who have for five years followed the Gold Medals. We are so proud of them all and Thank Terence for all the work and time he has put in training our boys. It really has

been a community effort. Thanks to everyone who came out for the Homecoming on Sunday evening.
