Killian Young not there yet for Clare match
KERRY boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice reported good progress with injuries ahead of this weekend’s game with Clare in Ennis (Sunday, 3.30pm). The Kerry team prepared for the game and the forthcoming championship season at Johnstown House in Kildare.
“We did [come away clean], we’re pretty good,” he stated.
“Killian Young isn’t quite there yet, with the injury he’s had since the league and Tom O’Sullivan from Dingle had a minor hamstring issue going on camp, he’s okay now but he wasn’t able to do anything, but other than that we’re good.”
Fitzmaurice also confirmed that five members of Jack O’Connor’s U-21 panel had been drafted into the senior squad in the week’s since the League final triumph over Dublin.
“The Under 21s are Brian Ó Beaglaoich, Tom O’Sullivan, Jason Foley, Gavin White and Seán O’Shea.”
Fitzmaurice also confirmed that Johnny Buckley, who had been carrying a knock following Dr Crokes successful All Ireland club campaign, was back in the fold and confirmed that Kerry’s goalkeeping options consisted or Brian Kelly and Brendan Kealy, although “somebody else will probably be coming in soon”.
The only addition to the panel from the league campaign – out side of the Under 21 players – is An Ghaeltacht’s Eanna Ó Conchuir who’s likely to be involved in the development squad rather than the championship squad.
