Tralee hosts boxers from Limerick and Down

TRALEE Boxing Club hosted a selection of boxers from Kerry who took on boxers from Limerick and Down last Saturday. There were Irish national champions, Ulster champions, Munster champions, and Monkstown BC champions on show and the crowd in attendance was treated to some great bouts.

To start off the night we had sum exhibition­s from young boxers ageing from 6 to 10yrs old this is a great way of introducin­g young boxers to the ring, names to note for the future are Willie Faulker, John Murry, Mary McDonagh, Ellen Burke these are all great prospects from our academy ‘Little Champs’.

Before the contests began Mr. Liam Brassil presented Patrick McCarthy (48kg) Irish Champion with the Brassil Perpetual Cup in memory of Denis, Noel and Liam.

A presentati­on was also made to East Down boxing club who travelled 300 miles to Tralee for the first time, we hope to make return journey next year. Best boxer of the evening went to Jonathon McCarthy who at his best just oozes class that nobody else comes close, all in all a great night of boxing.
