Stackpoole wins Poc Fada on Kerryhead
THE county Poc Fada finals took place on Ballyheigue mountain on Bank Holiday Monday and a good turnout of players in Senior, Under16, and Camogie took to the mountain in dry windy conditions.
Former All Ireland Poc Fada winner Brendan Cummins was the Poc Fada ambassador for the day and another guest player on the day was Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O’Connor.
Joe Walsh, secretary of North Kerry Hurling Board who sponsor the event and local TD Mr John Brassil welcomed all to the scenic venue overlooking the Atlantic The following emerged winners after a tough day.
Martin Stackpoole, Cian O’Regan, Patrice Diggins and Sarah Lawlor will go forward to represent the county at the Munster finals in July which will be held in the Burren Co. Clare. The organisers would like to thank all the people who helped out with the marking of the score cards and to Prims out catering for their beautiful hot food.

THE Credit Union Co. Hurling League Division 1 results from last weekend: Abbeydorney 1-20 Ballyheigue 1-18; Causeway 2-13 Lixnaw 2-10.
The Crotta v St. Brendan’s game was abandoned after 40 minutes due to an arm injury to Crotta’s Jordan Conway and we wish him well in his recovery.
Crotta were leading by 0-10 to 0-5 at the time. Fixtures for this week: Thursday – St. Brendan’s v Lixnaw, 7.30pm; Friday – Crotta v Ballyduff, 8pm; Saturday- Abbeydorney v Causeway and Kilmoyley v Ballyheigue, both at 7.30pm.

Celtic Challenge
THE Kerry Under 17 hurlers lost by 4 – 22 to 1 – 11 to South & East Clare in Round 5 at Rathkeale last Wednesday.
Kerry now moves to the next stage of the competition where they are graded to Division 4 and will play Limerick South/East away this Saturday, 10 June. Fixture details at www.gaa.ie/celticchallenge/fixtures
Hurling Cúl Camps 2017
WITH the 2017 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps just a few weeks away, registration is now open.
Hurling venues in Kerry are: Causeway & Rathmore (3 - 7 July), Lixnaw & Ballyduff (10 - 14 July), Ballyheigue & Kenmare (17 - 21 July), Abbeydorney, Ardfert & Fitzgerald Stadium (31 July - 4 Aug.), Crotta O’Neill’s - Dromakee (7 - 11 August) and Kilmoyley & Tralee Parnell’s - Caherslee (14 - 18 August).
Cost is €60 per child with reductions for additional members of families. Open to primary school children, boys and girls between 6 and 13 years of age.
