Mr Brosnan’s election to the KDL’s Management Committee was confirmed at their AGM in Mounthawk Park on Monday. All other officers were re-elected unopposed.
KDL Chairman Sean O’Keeffe said they were taking into consideration suggestions made by clubs in trying to shorten the season a bit and added that the KDL would assess the situation before the new season and may reduce the number of teams in some divisions.
Mr O’Keeffe said it has been a great year for Kerry soccer with the under-17 team excelling in the SSE U-17 Airtricity League.
He added that the KDL have put in an application for funding for a second full size astro-turf pitch at Mounthawk Park.
When it came to the Treasurer’s report the local press present were not given the financial sheets, and when asked by one of the delegates the amount of sponsorship given to the KDL by Kerry Group it was not revealed.
The financial report showed the KDL in a healthy financial situation with over €302,000 in the bank.
The local media will greatly miss Tommy Naughton as he did an excellent job with the KDL website updating tables and getting up results and goal scorers. He also sent out team panels to the local press before finals and was always available to contact and would do his utmost to help out in any way he could.
