‘One of our key strengths is we’re always on site’

-

STEPHEN Kelliher is from Caragh Lake and has worked in the building trade since he was 16 years old gaining a wealth of experience during this time. A carpenter by trade, Stephen also worked for 10 years with Ned O’Shea and admits that, when combined, there is very little he and Danny don’t know about the construction trade at this stage in life.

Stephen is extremely proud of the fact he is part of a local enterprise that is leaving its mark on everyday life across the county through its many buildings and structures that will last the test of time for generations to come. For example, St Joseph’s Nursing Home in Killorglin and an extension to Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School in Tralee are builds that Stephen, personally, is very proud of.

“We just felt the timing was right back in 1997 to go out on our own and it has proved a fruitful venture ever since,” said Stephen.

“One of our key strengths, as a partnership, is that for around 90% of the time we are always on site. We know what we’re doing and that is important. We understand the trade and know what it takes to look after a job. Our clients look for and appreciate this experience and attention to detail,” he added.

Stephen explains how the construction sector is still under pressure but remaining optimistic and committed to each and every job is vital. He admits much of the discussion about construction surrounds development in Dublin and the government needs to ensure a broader focus.

“Rural Ireland is still under pressure from the recession and this will need to change. However, we will continue to do what we do best as quality is one thing that can never be compromised in construction. We are locals ourselves which is why it’s important to keep as much of the work we generate as local as possible. We also have great staff,” Stephen concluded.
