BALLYDUFF HORSE FAIR

All roads lead to Ballyduff for the annual Horse Fair which on this Sunday June 11th. As always traffic diversion will take place on the day and please obey all stewards. NO ticket sellers on the day unless committee members are notified in advance & that includes local committees intending to sell tickets. As this is a family fun day we do not want the street littered with ticket sellers. Any queries about the Horse Fair please contact a member of the committee. Looking forward to seeing ye all on the day.

ACTIVE RETIRED

Ballyduff Active Retired (ARG) would like to thank everyone who supported their Bealtaine Festival & Alzheimer’s Tea Party. We raised €398 which will go to the local Alzheimer’s Centre (The Rosemary Centre).

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

WRITERSWEE­K

Pupils from Sliabh a’ Mhadra NS enjoyed great success at Listowel Writer’s Week. Mira Danielak, Tillaughna, won 1st Prize in the Creative Story Writing U- 12. Caitlyn Kirby, Dromartin, won a prize for her Book Review, while Sarah Carroll, Ballinclem­isig, won a prize for Poetry. Congratula­tions to all three girls. Caitlyn’s prize was a free workshop with children’s author, Holly Webb in Listowel for herself and her classmates. Friday was a special day for the many avid readers of author, Oisin McGann, who visited the school and did workshops with the various classes.

CLOTHES RECYCLING DRIVE

Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. is having a Clothes Recycling Drive on Thursday June 22nd. Please donate all your old clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, Bed linen, towels and curtains. These bags of clothing can be placed in the school bicycle shelter on the evening of June 21st or from early morning to 10.00am on Thursday, June 22nd. We would like to thank everyone who contribute­d to our last collection which was a great success.

BALLYDUFF IN BLOOM

The National Schools art competitio­n was judged last week. Our guest judge Marjerie Cunningham selected the winners from each school. All the art work will be displayed in the Community Centre in Ballyduff next Sunday from 11.00am to 1.00pm. The winners will be announced and prizes will be presented on the day. We are very grateful to the students who participat­ed and of course to the teachers who helped us with our initiative. The bulk of our barrels have been planted up and placed around the village by now. They are settling in nicely and already showing a colourful display.

HOSPICE WALK

The annual Good Friday Walk in aid of the Kerry Hospice Foundation ttok place in Ballyduff again this year and raised €2,844.10. Many Thanks to all those who walked on the day and to those who subscribed in any way. A special thanks to Ross’s Centra & Sheehy’s Londis for their generous sponsorshi­p. All monies raised in Kerry for the Hospice Foundation is used in Kerry and your continued support is greatly appreciate­d.
