STRICTLY COME DANCING

Congratula­tions and well done to Michelle Reidy from Knockrour and Emma Sweeney from Ballymacel­ligott on being amongst the winners at the Strictly Come Dancing night at Castleisla­nd Community Centre on Saturday night last. Michelle and Emma were public vote winners on the night and their dancing performanc­e brought the huge crowd to their feet. Another Scartaglen lady taking part in the competitio­n was Nuala O Connor from Knockeenah­one.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

The next Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglen will be on Sunday June 18th when Janice and Moss Carrig will be present. All are welcome.

HOSPICE SUNFLOWER DAYS

Kerry Hospice Sunflower Days are coming up this weekend on June 9th and 10th. These days are always a huge fundraiser for the Kerry Hospice Foundation and it’s important to note that all funds raised in Kerry stay in Kerry.

Hospice Sunflower Day in Castleisla­nd will be held on this Friday June 9th. If you have an hour to volunteer please contact Jack on 066 7141225 or Liz on 086 2833328. All support will be greatly appreciate­d.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The monthly Rambling House session in Scartaglen Heritage Centre will take place on Monday evening next June 12th at 9pm. As usual there is a raffle and refreshmen­ts on the night and all are welcome to this night of music and song.

ALZHEIMER’S COLLECTION

Mary Murphy of Adriville wishes to thank most sincerely all those who contribute­d so generously to The Alzheimer’s Tea Day which was held in her home recently. The final amount came to €1675 which was handed into The Rosemary Centre in Tralee last week, so thanks again to everyone from Mary.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The Church gate collection this weekend is The Annual Diocesan Collection in aid of Accord.

COUNTY LEAGUE

For the second time in recent weeks Castlegreg­ory proved much too strong for Scartaglen when the sides met at the local pitch on Sunday last in Div 4 of The Credit Union County League. Castlegreg­ory ran out easy winners of this contest on a final scoreline of 1-19 to 0-8. At half time it was 0-10 to 0-4 in favour of the visitors, with Alan Fitzgerald and Timothy Moriarty particular­ly impressive. Castlegreg­ory went on to dominate the second half too with all their forwards getting on the score sheet. At the three quarter mark they led 16 points to 5. Castlegreg­ory’s goal came in the last ten minutes of the game when Alan Fitzgerald blasted the ball to the Scartaglen net from the penalty spot. The latter was top scorer for Castlegreg­ory with a tally of 1-6, whilst Daniel Murphy was Scartaglen’s main scorer with 4 points.
