Cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy seized in raids in Listowel
GARDAÍ seized €1,500 worth of cannabis resin and smaller quantities of cocaine and ecstasy tablets in a series of morning raids on houses and apartments in the Listowel area on Tuesday.
Six premises were searched under warrant as part of ongoing garda efforts targeting the sale and supply of illegal substances in the district, principally heroin and cocaine.
One young man has been interviewed in connection with Tuesday’s discovery - made by members of the Listowel detective and uniform branches –and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions on the matter.
Listowel gardaí are meanwhile appealing for information in relation to two burglaries on homes while owners were out for a short periods of time.
Four hooded, young males in a dark car with a noxious exhaust are being hunted after a break-in to a house in the Farran area of Causeway while its female occupant was out between 10am and 10.45am on Saturday morning. Thieves stole cash and jewellery, in an incident that left the occupant - aged in her 60s - deeply shaken.
Later that evening an elderly man returned from Mass to his home in Derry outside Listowel to find the front door forced in but nothing stolen.
Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí on (068)50820.
