Courses at the coláiste

-

COURSES for students aged 10-18 will take place in Coláise Mhichil, Ballinskelligs, from July 17 to 28.

Coláiste Mhichil consists of a dedicated and highly skilled team of primary and secondary school teachers. The coláiste is co-educational, non-denominational and provides an Irish language course for students beginning in Fifth Class of Primary school up to students sitting the Leaving Cert.

Coláiste Mhichil, in its first year in 2017, aims to revive the tradition of a former Irish summer course in the beautiful Gaeltacht area of Ballinskelligs along the Wild Atlantic Way. It aims to re-awaken our passion for the Irish language through a fun learning environment.

This year it will cater for: Students starting 5th and 6th classes in 2017, and starting 1st year in 2017. Students preparing for the Junior Cert or the Leaving Certificate (class allocation is subject to student numbers).

The fee will be €275. A deposit of €125 secures a place for the course in July. The balance is due at registration on the first morning of the course.

There is a 10% reduction for second and subsequent students from the same family. With regard to cancellations, at least four weeks notice in writing must be given before a refund will be made.

Students will be required to make their own travel arrangements both to and from the classes, and the céili. Students must also provide their own lunches.

The main driving force behind this venture is the former St Michaels/Foilmore football player of the nineties, Mick Fitzpatrick of Ballinskelligs, who these days operates as a secondary school teacher in Portlaoise.
