BRENDAN MAHONY IS KERRY POC FADA CHAMPION The Chiarraí Poc Fada finals took place on Kerryhead mountain on Bank Holiday Monday 5th June.and a good turnout of players in Senior, Under16, and Camogie took to the mountain in dry windy conditions. Former All Ireland Poc Fada winner Brendan Cummins was the Poc Fada ambassador for the day and another guest player on the day was Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O’Connor. Joe Walsh, secretary of North Kerry Hurling Board who sponsor the event and local TD Mr John Brassil welcomed all to the scenic venue overlookin­g the Atlantic. The Crotta Hurling club was represente­d by Shane Nolan (Senior), Declan O’Donoghue (U-16) both Shane and Declan acquitted themselves very well in the competitio­ns. Well done lads. Congratula­tions and Well done to Crotta Hurler, Brendan Mahony who captured The Kerry GAA Poc Fada Veterans title Title 2017 with 39 pucks. The following emerged winners after a tough day. Under 16 Boys 1st: Cian O’Regan (Kilmoyley) 2nd: Jack Brosnan (Lixnaw)

Veterans Class 1st: Brendan O’Mahony (Crotta O’Neills) 2nd: John Healy (Ballyheigu­e) 3rd: Seamus O’Regan (Kilmoyley)

Senior Ladies Patrice Diggins (Causeway) Under 16 Ladies 1st: Sarah Lawlor (Ardfert) 2nd: Lisa Kearney (Ballyheigu­e)

Martin Stackpoole, Cian O’Regan, Patrice Diggins and Sarah Lawlor will go forward to represent the county at the Munster finals in July which will be held in the Burren Co. Clare. The organisers would like to thank all the people who helped out with the marking of the score cards and to Prims on the run catering for their beautiful hot food.
