The Kerryman (North Kerry)

CASTLEISLAND DESMONDS

-

SENIORS mens team travelled to play Dr.Crokes in the Kerry county league on Saturday evening. With the weather on the night mixed with heavy showers this game was always going to be tough for the men from the island but credit to all the starting 15 they played well in the 1st half with some great teamwork with Colm Murphy and Cian Dom O’Connor tormenting the Dr.Crokes backs we saw Desmonds go in at half time losing on the score of 1:11 to 2:06 with two well taken goals by Sean Lynch and Cian Dom O’Connor plus 3 scores from Colm Murphy and 2 from Cian O’Connor. But Dr. Crokes are not All Ireland Club Champions for nothing and we saw Brian Looney score 4 points plus Kieran O’Leary added his name to the scoreboard with a goal and 3 points and their no 15 Jordan Kiely was keeping the Desmonds backs on their toes with 2 points. The Crokes came out in the 2nd half with a spring in their step and this resulted in them scoring 6 points on the trot and with 17 mins gone in the 2nd half the scoreboard read 1:17 to 2:06 in favour of the home side. In the 1st half Kieran Brennan was unlucky not to score a goal but he scored a great point from play to lift the visiting team, Graham O’Connor scored a point from play, then Dr. Crokes scored another goal and 3 points and they finished the game on the score of 2:20 and Desmonds finished their scoring on 2:09 after Shane O’Connell scored a point from play.
