Opportunity for buyers during 172
THIS is the fifth year that Ireland has run the second registration period and the public has become very accustomed to it by now. One element which seems to be growing, however, is the extent of Manufacturer and Dealer-driven offers on new cars that takes place during the second registration period. This is hardly surprising as both parties know that the summer period presents the last real opportunity to boost the annual sales figure before the interest in new cars tapers out towards the end of the year.
This is very much the message we received when we contacted local dealers such as Cavanaghs of Charleville to get their thoughts on what 172 holds this year. We spoke with Sales Manager James Foley who tells us that the second registration period is now a key part of the sales calendar and more and more effort now goes into the planning of it and the offers available.
“The activity in July is now second only to January and the offers are getting stronger and stronger each year. We have some major offers being rolled out at Cavanaghs for 172. These include: money off on all the major models. For example, €5,000 off Ford Kuga and €4,000 off Ford Focus. We also have 3 years Free Motor Tax available on most of the popular models. Plus, this is the first year that Ford is now offering a 7 year warranty on all car models”.
Likewise, the commercial owner hasn’t been forgotten about in the 172 registration period where the offers continue to be very strong in this area also, led by a 3.9% APR on Finance with additional incentives such as a 5 year manufacturer warranty also available on selected models.
A large number of savvy buyers now wait until the second registration period to buy their new car feeling they can drive an even better deal than they would during the normally busy first quarter. Based on what is happening in the marketplace, this could well prove to be a very smart move for the discerning motorist.
