1. TRALEE IN FULL BLOOM THIS WEEKEND

TRALEE’S famous town park will be a hive of activity this weekend as it plays host to the annual Féile na mBlath family and garden festival.

Over the rest of the weekend visitors to the park will be able to enjoy a massive variety of attraction­s including medieval battle re-enactments; music recitals; running and cycling events; gardening demos and workshops; flower competitio­ns and a huge array of fun family entertainm­ent.

2. ENJOY THE GAA NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS

AN event that always draws a huge crowd, the Kerry GAA Night of Champions will take place this coming Friday night, June 16, at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee.

The event is a fundraisin­g event for Kerry GAA teams and will see the county’s football and hurling stars in attendance to meet fans.

3. SEE THE SIGHTS AT ‘HALF ON THE HEAD’

RUNNERS are being offered the chance to experience one of the hidden gems of The Wild Atlantic way, as for the sixth year in a row the Half on the Head run takes place in Ballyheigu­e on Saturday June 17 at 11am.

The Half Marathon and 10K Run make their way around Kerryhead with stunning views of the Shannon and the West coast of Clare before beginning a beautiful descent into Ballyheigu­e.

Registatio­n for both events can be done online by searchinf for ‘Half on the Head’ with the half-marathon set to cost €40 and the 10k costing €25.

4. PAY TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH THIS WEEKEND

JOHNNY Cash will be Back’ on Saturday June 17 at The Rose Hotel, Tralee, when Johnny Cash (aka Fergus O’Sullivan), June Carter (aka Patrice O’Connor) and The Real Deal Band pay tribute to the great man himself.

Tickets for the Johnny Cash Tribute Concert are now on sale and cost €20. Tickets are available from The Rose Hotel, Tralee, on 066 71 99100, or by contacting Fergus directly on 087 698 8929.

5. GET PEDALLING IN THE PARK

ANYBODY who’d like to enjoy a cycle around the park with their friends and family, can do just that, this Friday June 16.

Participan­ts will be gathering in the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre from 6.15pm on June 16 where there will be music and face painting before cyclists set off at 7pm.

It’s a free event but you need to register. To do that, just log on to www.eventbrite.ie and search for ‘Tralee Pedal In The Park’.

6. OPEN AIR CINEMA SCREENING IN TRALEE

THE hugely popular open air cinema screening are returning to Kerry this Summer, with the first of the seasons screenings set to take place in Tralee’s Town Park on Friday, June 16.

The 2016 hit film ‘Sing Street’ will be screened from 10pm on the night - this is a free admission event.

As this is an open-air event, keep an eye on sicial media in case of cancellati­on.

7. AN INSPIRING FASHION SHOW IN BALLYROE

INSPIRED, one of the most selfess groups currently operating in Tralee, are getting set to hold a fundraisin­g fashion show in Ballyroe Heights Hotel this coming Friday night, June 16 at 8pm.

Tickets will cost €15 and are available to buy from the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on the night and from the ‘That’s Perfect’ shop on The Mall street in Tralee.

8. LOCAL ART EXHIBITION IN ROUNDYS BAR

A TALENTED Tralee artist’s latest exhibition is sure to draw a crowd when it opens next weekend, with the event set to have a very local feel to it.

The exhibition contains a selection of portaits of people that are currently living in Tralee and in it is probably a unique selling point for the exhibition,” said Damien, talking to The Kerryman on Thursday.

The exhibition is free to enter and will run in Roundys Bar from 7:30pm on the evening of Friday June 16 until the evening of Sunday, June 18.

9. GET EXERCISING THIS SATURDAY MORNING

JUNE is here so why not try to head down to the Tralee Town Park this coming Saturday morning and take part in the weekly park run?

The 5km run/walk is free of charge and is a great way to start your weekend. The morning starts at 9:30am sharp every Saturday.

10. DANCING IN TRALEE IN AID OF VITAL CHARITY

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fund in Tralee will host their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month.

The dances start at 9pm every Wednesday night the cost of entry for each night is set at €8.

The lineup for the month of June is as follows: June 14 - Best of Friends’, June 21 - ‘Catriona O’ Sullivan’ and June 28 - ‘Shay O’ Callaghan’.
