COMMUNITY TEXT ALERT

Thank you to all those who attended the Kilmoyley Community Text information meeting on Tuesday June 6th. Your support is much appreciated. We would like to thank all speakers on the night, Garda Enda McInerney Ardfert Garda Station, Garda Mark Cushen Ballyheigue Garda Station, Sgt. Paula Kelliher from the Listowel Division, Diarmuid Cronin from Muintir na Tire, Pa Riordan and Sean McGrath from our Community Alert Committee.

It was a very informative evening where the Gardai outlined how the Text System has the effect of leading to crime reduction in communities where it is in use. They also explained how the system is of great use to the Gardai in aiding them to deal with crime in localities. Neighbouring parishes have the system in place.

It will benefit everyone in our community to have such a system in place. It reassures vulnerable people in our community as they know that all members of our community are supporting each other in crime prevention. The system is at its greatest strength when it has a large volume of users, therefore we are appealing to everyone to consider joining the text system.

The Kilmoyley Text alert coordinators are Tony Flaherty, Michéal Regan and Phil Corridon. Should any members of the community wish to join the Text Alert Group simply complete the form which is available at O’Sullian’s Lerrig Stores or from the coordinator’s. There is a fee of €10 required along with the completed form which can be submitted to O’Sullivan Lerrig Stores or the coordinator’s.

There is also a Property Log Book available at for a fee of €5. The purpose of this log book is to allow community members to methodically list their property details in the unfortunate event of a break-in and theft of personal items.
