“OUR open day is a little something we put on every year, and it’s not just a day to show everyone what we do here; it’s our way of putting on a lovely day for the community and saying “Thank you”.

Camphill Community Dingle Manager Bryan Gallagher was beaming this week after hundreds attended Dún Síon on Sunday for a hugely successful 2017 staging of the community’s annual open day.

The sunniest day of the summer so far saw the service, which works with people with special needs and other intellectual disabilities, welcome everyone to see their facilities just outside Dingle town, and the fruits of the good work that goes on in Dún Síon.

“It was by far the best day of the summer so far in terms of weather, so it was perfect for our open day,” a chirpy Bryan told The Kerryman.

“Everyone who called in was able to sample our jams, cakes, arts and crafts, so it raises awareness of what we’re doing in Dún Síon and the services that are available here.

“But it’s also a chance to give back to the people who have supported our Dingle Community so much since we started out,” Bryan explained, highlighting the many events held on the day for the attendees.

“We had a range of activities, fun, and games there on Sunday for the many kids who visited, and we put on refreshments and a barbecue as well, as has become an annual tradition of ours.

“It was an absolute scorcher on Sunday, and it all contributed to what was a perfect day for our community and our many supporters.”
