HORSE/PONY RACES:

The annual Abbeyfeale races take place this year by kind permission on the lands of John and Anthony Relihan on Sunday, July 2. This is a day out for all the family with face painting, pony rides and a bouncy castle for the children, Queen of the Races and best dressed competitio­n for the ladies, GAA on the big screen for the gents and a barn dance for everyone! This s year’s race card will feature artwork from the overall winner of the National School competitio­n. Judges favourites will be displayed at the races. All funds raised are donated to local charities. First race will be at 12.30pm. Admission €7, children free.

LOTTO RESULTS

THE TOM CREAN 312 CYCLE

312 KM From Naas to Annascaul. Naas Cycling Club departed Naas, Co. Kildare, last Saturday at 5 a.m. an eight strong team, cycled 312 kms to Tom Crean’s village of Annascaul. It’s the second year of the challengin­g cycle, which is in honour of the heroic Antarctic explorer, and this year the group hope to raise funds for Friends of Naas Hospital.

THE COTTAGE MARKET

The Cottage Market, Annascaul took place last Sunday which was a great success with locals and tourist dropping in. Great music was enjoyed by the very popular band The Foxtails. The raffle was won by Jane Mander. The next market will take place on 9 July 10.30am-2pm. A variety of entertainm­ent to enjoy as you browse.
