Tarbert Power Station. Indeed he worked hard and he also gave many a person the big break by providing them with their first job.

He was also a great sportsman and followed all sports, but his love for the G.A.A. be it either Football or Hurling was paramount especially when it came to local or County following. This stemmed back to his early years and in particular to the early 50’s when in 1953 Bally won the North Kerry Senior championship and the ‘Shannonsiders’ which were the team backboned by so many players from his native Pulleen that won the Intermediate Championship defeating Tarbert in the final these were two victories that were very dear to him. But he would also be very passionate about the Senior County champions of 1942 and many the audience he held in complete silence as he famously sang the great song in honour of Shannon Rangers victory.

Soccer was also a sport he loved dearly and he followed the English Soccer scene with great interest, and very recently enjoyed the success of Arsenal when they captured the double of the league and cup. When his working career came to the end and retirement stepped in Donal did not stop working he was always working at something or other around the house, and his daily morning trips to the village for messages and the paper were always special to him as he would meet many friends and discuss the local news and topics of interest.

But as a devoted family man it is his family that will miss him most and it is to his loving wife Kay, son Tony, daughters Kathleen, Jacqueline, Denise and Alison. His brother Mick and sisters Josie, Peggy and Teresa. son-inlaws, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends we offer our deepest sympathies.

Donal’s remains were in repose at his home on Thursday and at Lynch’s Funeral Home, Main Street on Friday 23rd June from 4pm with removal at 7pm to St Michael of the Archangel Church, Ballylongford. Requiem Mass took place on Saturday morning at 11am followed by burial afterwards in Lislaughtin Abbey. Ar dheis dea go raibh a ainm
