KILLARNEY

Men’s club

The club had teams taking part in two West Munster Area Semi-finals over the last week, but both were lost by the odd match, and both were defeated on the last green played in both matches. Our team in the Michael Cashman Trophy were up against Ceann Sibeal at Ceann Sibeal, and before the match were unfortunat­e to lose one of their usual team members due to a hand injury.

The results were Timmy Brosnan & Tim O’Meara lost 3/2, Jack Buckley & Tim O’Keeffe won on the 19th, Eddie MacSweeney & John Wall lost 3/2, Shane Kelly & John Murphy won 2/1 and in the 4th match out, which was the last match out on the course, Gerard O’Meara & Sean O’Donoghue lost on the 19th green, The team were under the management of Tim O’Meara and Dermot Doyle, as the regular team manager, Connie Brosnan was in Spain representi­ng Ireland in Golf, in the European Games for Organ Donor Recipients.

The team in the Junior Cup were at Castleisla­nd on Saturday and they received a bye into the 2nd round where they were up against Castleisla­nd.

The team Manager was Mark Beckett, Assistant Profession­al at the Club. The Team Members were Niall McCarthy, Darren Mulcahy, Jason Arthur, Mike Maher & Baden Maher, and the substitute­s were Sean Moynihan Robert Cussen & Ryan Kelliher. The team were comfortabl­e winners over Castleisla­nd, and then faced Newcastle-West in the Area semi-final where they were defeated in the last match on the 18th green.

The Boys Club Junior team were at Newcastlew­est where they were up against Ballybunio­n in the West Munster Area Final, and they eventually succumbed 3.5 to 1.5 in their encounter. The team Manager was Liam Healy, ably assisted by Junior Officer John Curtin.

The results were: Luke Walsh lost 2/1, Niall McCarthy won 2 up, Darren Mulcahy lost by 2 holes, Ryan Kelliher lost on the 18th green, and Conor Stack was 3 up when his match was called in. Fixture
