Chernobyl children attended the 7.30 p.m. Mass in Moyvane on Saturday evening last. SECOND COLLECTION in aid of Trócaire’s work in East Africa will be taken up at all Masses next weekend July 22/23. Nearly 25 million people in Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia are currently in urgent need of food and water due to drought.

SENIOR CITIZENS COLLECTION

Raised €699 for which the committee are extremely grateful. This collection helps to subsidize the chiropody service and the annual Christmas dinner.

FARM SAFETY WEEK

Farm Safety Week will take place this year from July 24 to July 28. The campaign will focus on a different risk each day. Farmers will be encouraged to take some time during the week to assess the safety of routine tasks. The message for Farm Safety Week is that farm safety is a lifestyle not a slogan.

PARISH CELEBRATIO­N

Sunday held on 16th was a great success. Many of us had lost contact over the years and the get together on such a fine day was a most joyful occasion. Thanks to Larry McEvoy for the music, Denis Doody for the food and all the helpers who have been preparing for the day for several weeks. Thanks to Fr Kevin for inspiring the event, which is hoped to be repeated again.

To the Moore family, Glenalappa on the death of Anne Moore (née Shaughness­y), Kilconlea Lower. Anne wife of the late Tom, survived by her sons Tom and Mike. Daughters Eileen (Tullamore), Maria (Corofin), Bridget (Abbeyfeale) and her 15 grandchild­ren. Following Requiem Mass on Monday, July 10, in Abbeyfeale Church, Ann More was laid to rest afterwards at Reilig Ide Noafa, Abbeyfeale.

Parish Outing 2017

The annual Kilmoyley Parish Outing will take place on Thursday, August 3. Mass will be said at 9.30 a.m. in Kilmoyley Church prior to our departure for Ennis, Co. Clare. Evening meal will be served in McHale’s Stretford End, Causeway at 7 p.m. followed by music and dancing till 11.30 p.m. Cost: €30. BLESSING OF GRAVES AND CEMETERY MASS.

Many thanks to Fr Liam and Fr Pádraig for blessing the graves of our beloved dead and celebratin­g mass in the grounds of the cathedral on Friday, July 14. Thank you to everyone who came on the evening and thank you to all those who worked quietly behind the scenes to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

Graveyard Mass at Reilig Naomh Erc (Kilmoyley New Cemetery) will be held on Friday, July 28, at 8 p.m.
