Patrick will box Eoghan Quinn

Ref played over a minute more at end of 1st half in which Mayo got a score yet plays 30 seconds less at end of ET??? #GAA #CORKvMAYO

Jim Crowley @Greatbleddyman

Glaring issues for all to see but for tonight we called for pride and fight and we got that #corkvmayo

Gary Murphy @GaryMurphyDCU

The crowd in the Starbucks on the lower east side of New York giving funny looks at the

(St Johns Derry). Patrick had a close win over this opponent in semi-final of All-Irelands Championships this year in which many said it was the best contest of the Championships. Quinn will be out to prove himself after such a close battle while Patrick is reigning Irish champion and is boxing out of his skin at the moment so this fight should be a humdinger.

Meanwhile, Kilflynn boxer Aaron McElligott got Ireland off to the best possible start at the European Schoolboys Championships in Valcea, Romania last week. His

Cork guy roaring at his phone at #CorkvMayo.

Colm O’Connor @colmo2b

Today’s performance has layer a good foundation for the new manager #corkvmayo #GAA #rebels

Al Flats @alflats11

How do they keep coming back? There has never been a team to face so much adversity and keep coming back. #incredible #MayoGAA #CorkvMayo

Brian Cronin @Barnflake

victory over home favourite Samuel Florin-Cimpoesu was hailed by Paddy Gallagher’s coaching staff as a catalyst for Ireland’s boxers taking home at least ten bronze medals from the 2017 Championships - and matching the joint record breaking collection of the Irish teams at the European Schoolboy Championships at Anapa in 2012 and Dublin in 2013 in terms of quantity.

Although Aaron’s participation ended with a defeat to Yahor Simakov of Belarus in the Quarter-finals, the most important thing was his

Credit where it’s due to Cork players today - a gutsy, committed performance. Beaten but not for lack of effort. No shame there! #CORKvMAYO

In hurling meanwhile the sweeper debate continued to rage...

Colm Crowley @mrcolmcrowley

The sweeper system sucks the potential joy out of hurling.

Michael Foley @MickFoley76

Hurling has plenty room for lots of styles, and equal room for criticism of styles too. Today was a hard, boring watch. Michael Duignan

overall contribution to Team Ireland, and that was par excellence.

Elsewhere, the Cashen Vale BC senior boxers are preparing hard for competitions which includes the Celtic Box Cup in Dungarvan in September, and the National Senior Championships in November.

Kevin Cronin - the club’s most experienced senior, has his mind firmly fixed on the National Seniors. A win would be a quantum leap for the Milltown heavyweight, and Cronin has his mind firmly fixed on that prize.

@DuignanMichael

Sweepers should be outlawed! Not the game I love. Coach players to tackle & to use their heads instead of using extra backs to compensate!

DJ Walsh @dj_breathnach

Cant see team playing sweeper or short passing going all the way. Hurling too instinctive. Neither would beat Tipp or Galway #wexvwat #GAA

Mike McCarthy @MikeMcCarthy67

If it’s not broken don’t fix it ... Hurling like, this sweeper thing is fair boring #WatvWex
