The collection in the parish in aid of Trócaire’s work in East Africa raised €2,010.

DEATHS

The death took place on 26th July 2017 of Mary Holly, (nee Holly) Ahanagran, Ballylongf­ord and formerly of Tarmons, Tarbert. Wife of the late Thomas and mother of Patrick, Marian, Sinead, Helen, Lucy, Denis, John Martin, Thomas Michael and her angels in heaven Margaret-Teresa and Teresa. Deeply regretted by her sister-in-law, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass for Mary Holly was celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, Ballylongf­ord on Saturday, the 29th of July, followed by burial afterwards in Lislaughti­n Abbey.

DEATH has taken place of John Stack, The Height, Duagh. Who died on July 23rd 2017.

DIED 25 July 2017; Margaret Bergmann Lambert, a high jumper who was barred from the 1936 Berlin Olympics because she was Jewish, died in New York age 103.

DEATH took place on 24th July 2017 of Bobby Horgan, Robertstow­n, Foynes, Survived by his wife Anne, son Robert, daughter Carol and her Partner Thomas, grandson James, daughter-inlaw Marika, mother-in-law Anna, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass in Robertstow­n Church on 27th July, was celebrated for Bobby Horgan. Burial afterwards in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

DEATH has taken place of Mary Scanlon (Knockafrec­hane, Brosna, on July 21st. 2017, Mary, daughter of the late Timmie Joe; deeply regretted by her mother Hannah Mai, brothers Edmond, Tom, Colin and Joseph, aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, colleagues, neighbours, relatives and friends. R.I.P. Requiem Mass for Mary Scanlon was celebrated in St. Carthage’s Church Brosna on Monday 24th July. Burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery.

Survived in Ireland by nephew Gabe McCarthy and family, nieces Bridie Mai Horgan and family, Knockunder­val, Duagh and Kathleen O’Connor & family, Brosna.
