BALLYLONGFORD

-

Jim Cremin that got Ballydonoghue off the mark after five minutes of the second half. He certainly put in a shift and a half on Saturday evening and must have covered every inch of Frank Sheehy Park before the final whistle. And to prove the point a short time later he was on the end of a Padraig Lyons shot to tap into the Desmonds net. From here on there was only one team in it and with =91man of the match’ Martin O’Mahony and his midfield partner Eamon Walsh in unforgiving mood we drove on from there. The final nail being driven home at the end of the third quarter and this time roles were reversed and it was Padraig Lyons who was on the end of a Jim Cremin shot to finish to the net after good work by Eamon Walsh to set the move in motion. Desmonds first score of the second half came after 17mins again from a free. Cian O’Connor and Stan Divane with a point apiece tacked on two more before the end but these were cancelled out by two Ballydonoghue points. A fantastic performance from both players and management teams. The league cup will make a fitting companion for the Eamon O’Donoghue Memorial Cup won in 2016. Congratulations to all.

NORTH KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP Ballylongford/Asdee 1-4 Ballyduff/Duagh 5-11 Played in a blustery Coolard on Sunday morning this game turned out to be a very one sided affair and was effectively over after the first quarter. Bally/Asdee were playing with the aid of the wind but it was Ballyduff/Duagh who were playing the better football and by the 16th minute Michael Kirby and Christopher White had the ball in the net on four occasions to put them 4.2 to no score ahead. Bally/Asdee began to come to grips with their opponents and Conor Keane slotted over their only point of the half. Half Time Score Ballyduff/ Duagh 4-4 Ballylongford/Asdee 0-1 The second half was a more even affair with Eoin O’Connor and Conor Carmody adding on a further three points while Sean Hanrahan pushed up from midfield for a well taken goal. Ballyduff/Duagh only needed to keep the scoreboard ticking over as they added on another seven points with their fifth goal coming from a high ball from Padraig Shanahan which deceived Cathal Donran in the Ballylongford/Asdee goals.
