Ger Dowling enjoys wins in Newbridge and Limerick

IT was a good weekend for Listowel’s Ger Dowling. His dog, Right Half Back (4/1), which is trained by Marie Gilbert, scored a terrific victory in the second semi-final of the Texacloth Juvenile Derby in Newbridge on Friday night, clocking 28.64 on going rated .20 slow and relegating Brendan Maunsell’s even-money favourite, Man Twenty One, to third place.

Twenty-fours later, Ger Dowling won the final of the 750 Cambridgeshire (winner, €1,000) at Limerick with Searchforahero (2/1), which beat even-money favourite, Jaytee Patriot, by a length in 42.11.
