On Satur­day, Septem­ber 2, the death in Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal Kerry oc­curred of Kath­leen O’Con­nell of Corobeg, Valen­tia, who was pre-de­ceased by her sis­ter Mary Cur­ran (who passed away a month pre­vi­ously), her hus­band Jeremiah (who passed away in 2002), her son Brendan and two in­fant sons.

The last of her gen­er­a­tion of Valen­tia Is­lan­ders to live in the town­land of Corobeg, she resided there through­out her life and was a woman of the land and a good neigh­bour who op­er­ated the fam­ily farm there very ef­fi­ciently and dili­gently with fam­ily mem­bers.

Re­quiem Mass for Kath­leen O’Con­nell took place on Tues­day in the church of St Der­arca and Teresa of Chapel­town, cel­e­brated by Fr Larry Kelly, PP Cahir­siveen and Fr John Shana­han, the for­mer PP of Valen­tia. She was laid to rest in Kil­more grave­yard. Sin­cere con­do­lences are of­fered to her daugh­ters Mary and Cather­ine, sis­ter Nora (Eng­land), nieces, neph­ews, rel­a­tives and friends.
