DENNY PREMIER B

Classic FC 1 Tralee Celtic 2

THIS Tralee local derby was a close affair with Tralee Celtic coming from a goal down to claim the three points with a strong second half performance.

Classic took the lead in this game with an Anthony McAuliffe goal and held this advantage to the interval.

However when you have a player of the calibre of Chris Kerins on your side a game can be changed very quickly with a bit of magic and this was demonstrated when the prolific goalscorer scored a goal of sheer class.

A great cross from the right wing by Fiachra Dunne was in the path of the inrushing Kerins and he turned and executed a simply stupendous over the head volley which gave the Classic keeper no chance.

Late in the second half he weaved his web of magic again latching on to a James Sugrue free kick and planted his header well out of the reach of the Classic goalie.

Tralee Celtic finished up with just nine players when two of their players got straight red cards after becoming involved in an altercation between themselves, which was bizarre in the extreme and tarnished what otherwise was a good competitive game.

Killarney Celtic B 1 Castleisland B 2

THE clash of the Bs was a tight affair but Castleisland edged it with goals from Danny Feehan and Ben Cooney. Both sides ended up with 10 men after a player from each side got red carded.

Castleisland goalkeeper Martin Hewett proved to be the star of the show for the winners saving a late penalty which ensured the islanders collected the three points.
