Fenit Samphires 4 Tralee Dynamos 3

THESE two sides with league title aspirations locked horns at Mounthawk Park on Friday evening with a new look Tralee Dynnmos side facing a Fenit side who were without a few regulars and they had a few new players on duty.

The Dynamos side are a multi national outfit and after enjoying a very good first half looked comfortable at half time leading 2-0.

However a tremendous second half performance enabled Fenit to deservedly collect the three points.

Their goalkeeper Eoin O’Brien kept them in the game in the first half with two breathtaking saves.

Dynamos began the game on the front foot and went ahead after just four minutes.

A penetrating attack from midfield opened the Fenit defence and when Ivan Kolarevic’s shot was parried out by the Fenit goalie Eoin O’Brien Simon Lorne was on to the loose ball in a flash and drilled it to the back of the net from close range.

After this play switched down the other end with Ferdie O’Brien linking up with Chris Murphy who played in Bill Mullins but his rasper of a shot went over the top.

Przemyslaw Skrzypczak had a half decent chance for Dynamos shortly afterwards but he shot low and wide of the target.

Fenit keeper Eoin O’Brien was then called into action twice making a fantastic save to deny Simon Lorne turning his shot from 10 yards around the post and followed this up five minutes later with another top drawer save pushing a fizzing Lorne shot from the verge of the box over the top.

Dynamos doubled their lead in the 38th minute with a gem of a goal.

After a swift attack down the wing Simon Lorne was through on goals but his shot was blocked out and with his back to the goals in a jam packed goalmouth Jonathan Hannafin displayed remarkable improvisation with an audacious backheel, which caught everyone by surprise and the ball trickled in past everyone to the back of the net.

Fenit were unlucky not to pull one back just before half time with a thunderous shot from Bill Mullins rattling the crossbar.

Whatever the Fenit manager said to his side during the break they were a transformed side in the second half.

Just 40 seconds after the tip off they pulled a goal back when Bill Mullins centred a precise through ball to Chris Murphy and he blasted the ball to the roof of the net from 12 yards.

Disaster struck for Dynamos in the 64th minute when a Bill Mullins cross was headed past his own goalkeeper by the unfortunate Jonathan Burrows and this equaliser really put the game into the melting pot.

Four minutes later Fenit went ahead with another very spectacular goal.

Bill Mullins ran on to a loose ball 10 yards outside the box and turning on to his left foot send a thunderbolt of a shot which flew past the Dynamos keeper.

Fenit took control of the game in the 82nd minute with a goal that any cross channel Premier League striker would be proud of.

James Duggan ran on to a loose ball in his own half and spotting the Dynamos goalie Gary Sugrue off his line he delivered a delicious looping shot which left the keeper stranded and went into an unguarded net for a goal of exceptional quality.

To their credit Dynamos did pull one back with a late goal from sub Adrian Bohmer and despite putting on a bit of late pressure for an equaliser time ran out and Fenit were deserving winners at the end.

Dynamos had a good few newcomers on duty for this game and they played well in the first half but faded out of it in the second 45 minutes.

However with more games under their belts they should gel much better together as a unit.

For Fenit it was a good win and they can look ahead to feature in the title race with a fair degree of optimism. TRALEE DYNAMOS: Gary Sugrue, Jonathan Hannifin, Jonathan Burrows, Theo Diggins, Cian Sheridan, Simon Lorne, Klaudio Dema, Skibinski Marek, Ivan Kolarevic, Shane Lowth, Przemyslaw Skrzypczak.

FENIT SAMPHIRES: Eoin O’Brien, Sean Allen, Donnacha McGarry, Peter McCarthy, Sean Foley, Ferdie O’Brien, Thomas Lenihan, Bill Mullins, Ivan Parker, James Duggan, Chris Murphy.
