CULTURE NIGHT

Culture night takes place throughout the county on Friday, September 22 with venues throughout the land opening their doors for free events to the public. At the Glórach that evening from 7.30 to 9 we will be celebratin­g local writers, poets and actors with an informal evening of story, song, poetry and drama. Beidhfáilt­eroimhgach­éinne.

GOD HAS NO COUNTRY

The extraordin­ary story of the actions of Kerryman Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, who defied the fascists during World War II, will be brought to the stage in the one-man play,God has no Country by Killarney man Donal Courtney. Through the actions of O’Flaherty, many lives were saved and it will be an intriguing experience to see this tale told on stage. The play will be coming to the Glórach Theatre on the evening of Thursday, September 28. Booking is essential at 0871383940.

ST. PADRE PIO TRIDUUM 2017

A special Triduum will be held in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, NCW from 7-9pm on Wednesday, September 20, Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22 with Mass and Devotions, Blessing and Veneration of 1st class relic. Celebrant Fr. John Mockler of the Institute of St. Padre Pio’s Servants of Suffering. All welcome.

Abbeyfeale Active Retirement will have their first meeting of the autumn on Wednesday, September 20 at 2pm in the Adult Education Centre, Mountmahon. PRO Mary McGill says ‘ Hope everyone enjoyed the Summer break and we look forward to a full and varied schedule for the next term’.

FREE COMPUTER TRAINING

There is a new free Digital Skills for Citizens course taking place in Abbeyfeale library. The course will begin on Saturday, September 23 and will run each Saturday afternoon for five weeks, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The course is completely free to all participan­ts - an Eircode is required to register. Participan­ts are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet if available. Ring Enda to book 087 4207708.

HOPE FOUNDATION

Tournafull­a’s Rachel Doody who is travelling to Calcutta next spring with the Colaiste Ide agus Iosef Transition Year students is organising a fundraiser on Saturday, September 23 -- a 5K/10K Run Walk from the Tournafull­a Community Centre, registrati­on is from 10am with the race starting at 11.30am.
